Now and then the governments statistics department (ONS) issues businesses a detailed form to collect statistics on their particular trade. These forms are long and involve identifying the questions which apply in your case and you must by law return them or suffer a penalty, so its important not to ignore them. If you receive such a request from the ONS we can help you comply with the request quickly and efficiently.
If your business operates as a limited company, you may need to complete the P11D form annually to report any benefits in kind, such as vehicles or loans, that your company provides. We can prepare the necessary forms, provide copies to the affected employees or directors, and advise on the class 1A NIC the company should pay on these benefits.
When we prepare your personal tax return we also include checking your PAYE coding notices where these apply. Often a mistake on your coding can cause nasty surprise tax liabilities when your income is calculated for your annual tax return. As well as nasty liabilities you could have a refund just waiting to be claimed. We check your codes and will have them amended by HMRC to make sure you pay the right amount of tax at the right time – not too little and not too much either.
The world is moving inexorably to using digital means to do most things now, particularly where accounting is concerned. Because paperwork takes longer to process and involves more keyboard work to get the details recorded, we have to charge a bit more based on the number of bits of paper we will need to handle. If you wish to continue providing paperwork which we then scan to upload into the software for your accounts then there is an extra charge.
